Mr. Mario Bazile, 1964 - 2010

Public Information Assistant (Haiti)

Mr. Mario Bazile

Mario Bazile, a national of Haiti, worked as a Public Information Assistant for the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) since 2006.

Mario¡¯s career was dedicated to communications and public information. He had a certificate in computer science from the Micro Center in Port-au-Prince, his home town.

Prior to joining the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ, Mario spent two decades working for the Haitian Ministry of Education, producing educational and motivational radio programmes. He also worked in video production and teamed with a variety of institutions to develop content for Haitian television and radio.

Mario worked the early shift at MINUSTAH FM as a radio producer, director and technician where his cool and calm demeanour led his colleagues to refer to him as ¡°la force tranquille de nos matinales¡± (the quiet force of our morning programmes).

He was remembered as a detail-oriented producer and technician and universally praised for being a perfectionist.

Mario¡¯s commitment to public service extended beyond his work for the Government of Haiti and the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ. He was involved with several professional organizations of Haitian broadcasters, one of which was dedicated to combating HIV/AIDS.

One of his MINUSTAH colleagues remembered him ¡°as a great guy with a big smile. He would greet me anywhere he saw me. He was a nice person with a big heart.¡±

Mario communicated easily in Creole, English, French and Spanish.

Mario is survived by his wife Roseline Augustin and their three children, an adult son Rostopchine, Jonathan, 12, and Jane, 11.??
