Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ is starting a new chapter in its relationship with libraries, researchers, and knowledge institutions worldwide.
For over 75 years, the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Depository Library Programme played a vital role in making Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ information accessible by sending print materials to libraries across the globe. But the world has changed.
With the now recording over 60 million downloads from 12,000 locations annually?and the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Secretariat Libraries digitizing our vast historic, print collections, access to Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ knowledge has significantly transformed.
A?new chapter
Recognizing this shift, the Department of Global Communications and the Dag Hammarskj?ld Library are phasing out the historic Depository Library Programme and launching an innovative new initiative: the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Charter Libraries Knowledge Network.
This network will reimagine library partnerships with the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ, ensuring that millions of libraries continue to be gateways and points of access to credible Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ information and data, research nodes, and training centers in our complex digital landscape.
Why does this matter?
Libraries play an essential role in providing access to trusted, fact-based knowledge, information, and data, a role more critical than ever. The Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Charter Libraries Knowledge Network will align closely with the?Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Global Principles for Information Integrity?within the context of the?Pact for the Future?and?the?associated?Global Digital Compact?and?Declaration on Future Generations.?
Now is the time to help shape this future. The Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Dag Hammarskj?ld Library invites libraries, knowledge institutions, professional organizations, and individuals to participate in a global consultation to co-create the network.
