On 24 April, the United Nations Postal Administration (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵPA) will release the next designs in its esteemed ¡°Endangered Species¡± stamps series, including twleve new stamps, three maximum cards, a limited?edition silk cover, and the 2026 Endangered Species folder.
For 35 years, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵPA has supported the work of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) by issuing stamps that highlight the critical importance of conservation.
The 2026 series draws attention to a group of species that is essential yet often overlooked: medicinal and aromatic plants.
These plants are vital to ecosystems and human well?being. They form the backbone of traditional medicine in many countries and provide key compounds for modern pharmaceuticals.
Beyond their medicinal value, they contribute to the food, cosmetics, and luxury goods industries, while also enriching biodiversity, supporting pollinators, and stabilizing the soil.
By celebrating these species, the 2026 collection underscores how profoundly societies depend on nature ¡ª and reinforces the urgent need for sustainable practices that protect both people and the planet.
Biodiversity conservation extends far beyond iconic wildlife, reaching into the very roots, leaves and flowers that sustain cultures, livelihoods and global health.
The stamps were illustrated and designed by?Rorie Katz (United Nations).
