About

2019 is momentous year for human security. It marks 25 years since the concept was introduced to the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ through the 1994 Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵDP Human Development Report. It also marks the 20th anniversary of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Trust Fund for Human Security (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵTFHS), which has been instrumental in moving the concept to an operational framework. The High-Level Event provided an important opportunity to reflect on the contributions human security has made to the work of the Organization and to chart its future as a critical framework for strengthening the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ system response to complex and interconnected challenges through a people-centered perspective.
