Asena Bo?nak is a Turkish journalist and a producer at TRT World with over a decade of experience covering human rights, humanitarian crises, global affairs, culture and technology. Her reporting tackled topics such as arbitrary detention, historical accountability, and gender and minority rights. She managed video teams in Istanbul and Washington, DC, including TRT World's TikTok operations, where she helped develop stories for new audiences. She has a strong interest in bringing compelling local news to global audiences. She has been building a new beat on AI governance and data deserts. Her interest in human rights journalism was sparked by her thesis at Heidelberg University on Guant¨¢namo Bay. She holds both a BA and an MA in American Studies.
