It means, like the Secretary-General said this morning, that this is an attack at the very heart of the integrity of the United Nations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">We only learned about it this morning through the news.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Neither I, nor my Office has been contacted by US authorities. But of course, we stand ready to engage with all concerned as necessary.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Coming from a country which is consistently Number One on the World Transparency Index and having served for 34 years in Danish politics without being rich, I\u2019m certainly shocked about it.<br \/>\nI think the United Nations and its representatives should be held to the highest standards of transparency and ethics.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">As you remember when I took office for this 70<sup>th<\/sup> session of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ General Assembly in September, I committed to uphold these principles during my tenure and I am firmly committed to doing so.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Corruption has no place at the United Nations or anywhere else.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"woo-sc-divider\"><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Opening Statement by the President of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ General Assembly, Mr. Mogens Lykketoft, at this afternoon&#8217;s press conference at the United Nations Headquarters in New York (as delivered) 06 October 2015 &nbsp; [brightcove videoID=4537038175001 playerID=1722935254001 height=270 width=480] &nbsp; We think, like many of you, this is extremely shocking.
