Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵITED NATIONS, New York, 23 October 2015 \u2013 The President of the General Assembly H.E. Mogens Lykketoft will visit the People\u2019s Republic of China at the invitation of the Government from October 27 until October 28.<\/p>\n

The President of the 70th session will meet Chinese government leaders and foreign affairs officials. Among the topics on the agenda are the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the upcoming climate change meeting in Paris in December, peace and security, the refugee crisis in the world and priorities for the 70th session of the General Assembly.<\/p>\n
\nMr. Lykketoft will also have the opportunity to meet with financial institutions and business leaders to discuss investments and partnerships in relation to the implementation of the SDGs.<\/p>\n
\n
China has made remarkable development progress over the last 30 years and also supports the development of other countries. During his recent visit to the United Nations last month, President Xi Jinping announced that China will establish an assistance fund for South-South cooperation and further investments in the Least Developed Countries in order to demonstrate China\u2019s commitment to the implementation of the SDGs.<\/p>\n

The President of the General Assembly will also exchange views on global challenges with Chinese students at Beijing University.<\/p>\n
\n
Mr. Lykketoft will be accompanied on the trip to Beijing by Chef de Cabinet H.E. Tomas Anker Christensen, Senior Adviser Wen Li, Special Assistant Marcus Carter Mathiasen and Deputy Spokesperson Ulla Oestergaard. The Chinese Government is financing the travel and accommodation of the delegation.<\/p>\n
