Mr. Mogens Lykketoft, President of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ General Assembly, had a fruitful meeting with Chinese Premier Mr. Li Keqiang. They discussed implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, the forthcoming COP 21 in Paris and the role of United Nations in the numerous global conflicts, including Syria. <\/p>\n

According to a news report on the meeting by the Chinese news agency Xinhua, China pledged to work with the international community to promote the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ conference on climate change to be held in Paris at the end of this year to achieve a new agreement.<\/p>\n

The agreement should be comprehensive, balanced and strong, and be achieved on the basis of the principle of common but differentiated responsibilities, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang told Mr. Lykketoft at the meeting, Xinhua reported.<\/p>\n

Speaking highly of China’s efforts in maintaining world peace, promoting global development and adapting development agenda, Lykketoft said he hoped China would continue to play a positive role in coping with global challenges including the climate change.<\/p>\n

The Paris Conference will be a milestone in the multilateral process on climate change, as it will set up post-2020 international regimes to tackle this challenge, Xinhua reported.<\/p>\n

China is ready to work with other countries to fulfill the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, Li was reported as saying.<\/p>\n

Xinhua said the two sides also exchanged view on international and regional issues of common concern.<\/p>\n
