The Resolution 70\/232 of 23 December 2015, recognizes the importance of the participation of indigenous peoples in the United Nations decision-making processes on matters affecting their rights requests the President of the General Assembly to conduct consultations on the possible measures to enable the participation of indigenous peoples\u2019 representatives and institutions in the relevant meetings of United Nations bodies affecting them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">In his remarks, President Lykketoft also mentioned the very positive experience\u00a0of indigenous peoples\u2019 participation at the United Nations\u00a0to date and encourages the membership to actively engage in the process to move meaningful and effective participation of indigenous peoples&#8217; representatives at the United Nations forward.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The Resolution 70\/232 of 23 December 2015, recognizes the importance of the participation of indigenous peoples in the United Nations decision-making processes on matters affecting their rights requests the President of the General Assembly to conduct consultations on the possible measures to enable the participation of indigenous peoples\u2019 representatives and institutions in the relevant meetings of United Nations bodies affecting them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><div class=\"woo-sc-divider\"><\/div><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today, the President of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ General Assembly, Mogens Lykketoft held a launch briefing on the participation of indigenous peoples at the United Nations.
