Ioannis\u2019 assignments when at headquarters in Athens included the Departments of European Union External Relations (1986-1988) and European Union Common Foreign and Security Policy (as European Correspondent from 1999 to 2004).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">In July 2011, he joined the European External Action Service, after having been selected to the post of Deputy Head of Delegation of the European Union to the United Nations in New York (which he occupied until August 2016).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Ioannis\u00a0studied economics at the University of Athens and European Studies at the Universit\u00e9 Libre de Bruxelles.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">He speaks English, French, Greek,\u00a0Italian and Spanish.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><div class=\"woo-sc-divider\"><\/div><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Special Adviser Political Issues Ioannis Vrailas is the Special Adviser on Political Issues within the Office of the President of the 71st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
