\"JullyetteJullyette Ukabiala is a Senior Adviser for Political Affairs within the Office of the President of the 71st<\/sup> Session of the United Nations General Assembly.<\/p>\n

Jullyette has served in the Department for General Assembly and Conference Management as a Political Affairs Officer and Secretary to intergovernmental bodies, including the Special Committee on Decolonization, the Statistical Commission and the Trusteeship Council. She has also served as an active member of the secretariat of the Disarmament and International Security Committee, and as Deputy Secretary of the Economic and Social Council\u2019s Group of Experts on Geographical Names.<\/p>\n

In addition, Jullyette has participated in Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Secretariat efforts to facilitate multilateral processes relating to sustainable development, serving in that regard as Secretary of the 12th<\/sup> Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (Ankara, Turkey, October 2015), and Secretary of the Main Committee of the Third International Conference on Financing for Development (Addis Ababa, July 2015).<\/p>\n

Previously at United Nations Headquarters, Jullyette served as a Department of Public Information Press Officer and Writer\/Editor, and a Research Analyst in the Lessons Learned Unit of the Department for Peacekeeping Operations.<\/p>\n

Before joining the United Nations, Jullyette was a Journalist and the Defence Correspondent of the Nigerian Guardian Newspapers. She won a Commonwealth merit award for postgraduate studies and holds a Ph.D and M.A. in War Studies from King\u2019s College London. She also holds a B.Sc. in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos.<\/p>\n
