On 21 September, the President of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Peter Thomson met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, H.E. Mr. Erlan Idrissov. President Thomson congratulated Kazakhstan on its selection to the Security Council and looked forward to continuing the fruitful cooperation with the Kazakh Permanent Mission. Minister Idrissov underscored the need for the international community to recommit to the fundamental principles of international law. He \u00a0recalled the steps taken by his government to ratify the Paris Agreement as soon as possible, as well as to implement the 2030 Agenda. The process of selection and appointment of the new Secretary-General was also discussed.<\/p>\n
