Katharina Kandt is\u00a0an adviser on communications, digital and social media and strategy in the office of the President of the 72nd Session of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ General Assembly. She also advises on youth and water-related issues and co-organized the Youth Dialogue and the High-level launch of the International Decade for Action: Water for Sustainable Development 2018-2028. During her time in the office, she worked on strategic communications, outreach, branding and exhibitions for the Presidency.<\/p>\n

Previously, Katharina has served as adviser on communications and digital media in the Office of the President of the 71st<\/sup>\u00a0Session of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ General Assembly. She also worked on strategic communications and outreach, branding and exhibitions for The Ocean Conference, the series of five SDG Action events, and all mission trips. Additionally, she served as supporting speechwriter for the President.<\/p>\n

In the Office of the President of the 70th<\/sup>\u00a0Session of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ General Assembly, Katharina worked on external communications. With a strong background in strategic and digital communications, she focused on the President\u2019s web and social media presence, helped organizing the first-ever televised debate with candidates for the position of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Secretary-General and played an integral role in the successful execution of the first-ever Digital Media Zone, now SDG Media Zone, at the United Nations.<\/p>\n

Katharina joined the United Nations in New York in 2015 working in the Evaluation and Communications Research Unit within the Department of Public Information. In previous positions in Europe, she gained experience in research on gender equality and diversity, website management, social media, outreach, public relations, advertising and publishing. She has worked with civil society as well as the private and public sectors.<\/p>\n

Katharina\u00a0has a Master degree\u00a0in Communications from Sciences Po Paris in France and a\u00a0Bachelor degree in Media Management from the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media, in Germany.<\/p>\n

She speaks German, English, French and some Spanish.<\/p>\n

Ambreen Fatima Anwar Husain is an intern with the Office of the President of the 71st Session of the United Nations General Assembly, New York, focusing on political issues. She is a graduate of Dr. RML National Law University, India, with a combined Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws (Honours). Prior to her internship with the Office of the President of the General Assembly, Ambreen worked at an Intellectual Property law firm in India, with a particular focus on trade marks. While pursuing her Bachelor\u2019s course, she interned with the Women\u2019s Rights Cell of Lawyer\u2019s Collective, where she analyzed the trends in judicial announcements relating to the law of Protection of Women from Domestic Violence. While pursuing \u00a0additional internships in areas varying from intellectual property rights and corporate law to human rights law, she developed her skills in research and writing.
