Mr. Miroslav Laj\u010d\u00e1k, met today with H.E.\u00a0Mr. Mohamed Asim, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives. They discussed the importance of ensuring the fair and equitable representation of Small Island Developing States (SIDS) at the United Nations and the need for SIDS voices to be heard in ongoing General Assembly processes. Climate change and its adverse impacts on SIDS were also raised. The Minister congratulated President Laj\u010d\u00e1k on the success of his high-level event to launch the International Decade for Action, &#8220;Water for Sustainable Development\u201d (2018-2028).
