Mr. Miroslav Laj\u010d\u00e1k, was in Prague, Czech Republic, from 25 to 26 March.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The primary purpose of his visit was to participate in the opening of the United Nations\u2019 Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Preparatory Meeting, entitled \u201cTowards sustainable, resilient and inclusive societies through participation of all\u201d. As part of a high-level debate panel at that gathering, he emphasized the importance of young people\u2019s engagement in meeting the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.\u00a0He also highlighted the need for participation from civil society and the private sector, in addition to Governments, in financing and implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).<\/p>\n<p>While in Prague, the President also met with a number of officials from the Government of the Czech Republic.<\/p>\n<p>In his meeting with H.E. Mr. Andrej Babi\u0161, Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, he discussed the Czech Republic\u2019s presidency of ECOSOC, implementation and financing of the SDGs, conflict prevention and sustaining peace.<\/p>\n<p>His meeting with H.E. Mr Martin Stropnick\u00fd, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, focused on multilateralism and migration.<\/p>\n<p>President Laj\u010d\u00e1k also met with H.E. Mr. Radek Vondr\u00e1\u010dek, President of the Czech Parliament\u2019s Chamber of Deputies.
