Other high-level speakers, as well as the Secretary-General\u2019s Envoy on Youth and Ishmael Beah, are expected to go to the stakeout as well.<\/li>\n<li>In connection with the theme of Sustaining Peace, President Laj\u010d\u00e1k\u00a0will deliver opening remarks at a High-Level Roundtable on Security Sector Reform and Sustaining Peace at 3:00 p.m. today in Conference Room 3. That is being co-hosted by Slovakia and South Africa on behalf of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Group of Friends of Security Sector Reform.<\/li>\n<li>At 5:00 p.m., the President will address a high-level side event entitled \u201cThe preventive potential of human rights \u2013 what does it mean in practice?\u201d. That is being organized by the co-chairs of the Human Rights\/Conflict Prevention caucus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>AFGHANISTAN: PRESIDENT DEPLORES ATTACK ON VOTER REGISTRATION CENTER<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>On Twitter yesterday, the President <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ_PGA\/status\/988055012935983104\">said he was disgusted<\/a> by the brazen attack on a voter registration center in Afghanistan. But he was confident that the Afghan people would not be deterred from exercising their rights.<\/li>\n<li>He added that the General Assembly stands with Afghanistan and against terrorism \u2013 now and always.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>PRESIDENT CALLS FOR REDOUBLED EFFORTS TO PROTECT MOTHER EARTH<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The President <a href=\"\/pga\/72?p=149609\">spoke this morning<\/a> at the General Assembly\u2019s Interactive Dialogue on Harmony with Nature. That is being held in connection with International Mother Earth Day.<\/li>\n<li>He said, \u201cOur ever-increasing consumption is unsustainable\u2026 And if our population grows as predicted, by 2050 we will need about 3 planets to sustain our current lifestyles. But&#8230; we have neither a Plan B nor a Planet B.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Calling for everyone to redouble our efforts for Mother Earth, he concluded by saying, \u201cLiving in harmony with nature is not just beneficial. It is necessary.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>The President also <a href=\"\/pga\/72?p=149525\">spoke this morning<\/a> at the ECOSOC Forum on Financing for Development Follow-Up.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>ASSEMBLY PRESIDENT MEETS WITH GAMBIAN PRESIDENT, MINISTERS FROM CROATIA &amp; MONTENEGRO AND OTHERS AHEAD OF SUSTAINING PEACE MEETING<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Over the next few days, the President will be holding a number of bilateral meetings with the dignitaries and officials who are in town for his <a href=\"\/pga\/72?p=127267\">High-Level Meeting on Peacebuilding and Sustaining Peace<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Today, he met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia. They discussed the concept of sustaining peace, the Global Compact on Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration, and regional issues.<\/li>\n<li>He also met with the President of the Gambia.
