It will be the first such meeting dedicated to tuberculosis, which kills more people across the globe than any other infectious disease.<\/li>\n<li>Following consultations among delegations, the President has transmitted the draft of the meeting\u2019s outcome document \u2013 a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/pga\/72\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/51\/2018\/09\/Co-facilitators-Revised-text-Political-Declaraion-on-the-Fight-against-Tuberculosis.pdf\">political declaration<\/a> \u2013 to Member States.<\/li>\n<li>The text will remain under silence procedure until this Friday.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>PRESIDENT\u2019S OFFICE PUBLISHES BOOKS ON SUSTAINING PEACE &amp; MORNING DIALOGUES<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>As this session of the General Assembly is drawing to a close, the President\u2019s office has published two books.<\/li>\n<li>The first is entitled \u201cStriving for peace during the seventy-second session of the United Nations General Assembly.\u201d It focuses on the <a href=\"\/pga\/72?p=127267\">High-Level Meeting on Peacebuilding and Sustaining Peace<\/a>, which was held last April, and which was one of the President\u2019s major events for the year.<\/li>\n<li>The book gathers together in one place the reports, resolutions, speeches and summaries related to the meeting \u2013 and to peacebuilding and sustaining peace in general.<\/li>\n<li>The second book is called \u201cMorning Dialogues: A Conversation.\u201d It highlights the <a href=\"\/pga\/72?p=129559\">Morning Dialogues<\/a>, which were a new initiative by the President this session.<\/li>\n<li>These informal discussions among Ambassadors on issues of concern to the United Nations aimed to create a space for real communication and listening.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>PRESIDENT TO HOLD PRESS CONFERENCE ON THURSDAY<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The President will hold his end-of-session press conference at United Nations Headquarters \u2013 on Thursday at 11:00 a.m.<\/li>\n<li>Also on Thursday, he would like to invite all United Nations correspondents to a reception at 5:30 p.m. in the Express Bar.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>NO POSITION ON BILATERAL U.S.-PALESTINIAN MATTER<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Asked whether the President had a reaction to the United States\u2019 decision to close the office of the Palestine Liberation Organization in Washington, DC, the Spokesperson replied that the President did not have a position on that bilateral matter.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=&#8221;1_3&#8243;][et_pb_code _builder_version=&#8221;3.12.2&#8243;]\n<!-- iframe plugin v.6.0 wordpress.org\/plugins\/iframe\/ -->\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"100%\" height=\"180\" src=\"\/\/www.un.org\/webcast\/1362235914001\/B1J3DDQJf_default\/index.html?videoId=5833554469001\" scrolling=\"yes\" class=\"iframe-class\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe>\n&lt;!&#8211; [et_pb_line_break_holder] &#8211;&gt;[\/et_pb_code][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Highlights of press briefing by spokesperson Brenden Varma \u2013 11 September 2018<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":202,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_et_pb_use_builder":"on","_et_pb_old_content":"","_et_gb_content_width":"","footnotes":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"categories":[232],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-165831","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-spokespersons-briefings","et-doesnt-have-format-content","et_post_format-et-post-format-standard"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.3 -
