And he\u2019ll focus on six major trends: peace and prevention; the Sustainable Development Goals and climate change; the role of the General Assembly; Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ reforms; dialogue; and multilateralism.<\/li>\n<li>The President-elect of the 73rd session, Ms. Mar\u00eda Fernanda Espinosa, will then take her oath of office. She\u2019ll be the third President to take such an oath. The Secretary-General is also expected to be present.<\/li>\n<li>Following the meeting, at approximately 3:45 p.m., Ms. Espinosa will speak to reporters outside the President\u2019s office on the 2nd floor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>GENERAL ASSEMBLY LAUDS PRESIDENT\u2019S \u2018MORNING DIALOGUES\u2019 INITIATIVE<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>This morning the plenary adopted a resolution by consensus on the revitalization of the work of the General Assembly.<\/li>\n<li>In that resolution, it highly commended President Laj\u010d\u00e1k\u00a0for introducing the Morning Dialogues, and strongly encouraged the continuation of the valuable practice of regular meetings between the President and the Permanent Representatives.<\/li>\n<li>The Morning Dialogues were launched this session to give Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ ambassadors a space to informally discuss substantive and practical aspects of the General Assembly\u2019s work.<\/li>\n<li>And speaking of the Morning Dialogues, our office has just <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/pga\/72\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/51\/2018\/09\/Morning-Dialogues.pdf\">published a summary<\/a> of the last eight sessions. Those were held in addition to the 6 held earlier in the year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>PRESIDENT LAÄ¢¹½ÊÓƵCHES TOOLBOX FOR FINANCING GLOBAL GOALS<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>On the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the President today launched a &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/pga\/72\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/51\/2018\/09\/Toolbox-Financing-letter-to-MS-14-September.pdf\">toolbox of SDG financing<\/a>&#8221; &#8212; a compendium of recommendations, best practices and initiatives to galvanize action on financing for the SDGs.<\/li>\n<li>This toolbox is a part of his endeavour to push forward financing for development, following his high-level event on this topic last June.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>SPEAKERS INVITED TO MAKE STATEMENTS AT KOFI ANNAN TRIBUTE<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Regarding the General Assembly\u2019s tribute to former Secretary-General Kofi Annan, which will be held on 21 September, the President has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/pga\/72\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/51\/2018\/09\/Kofi-Annan-tribute.pdf\">informed Member States<\/a> that he intends to invite the following people to make statements during the meeting: former Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon; the former President of Ireland and member of The Elders, Mary Robinson; Mr. Annan\u2019s spouse, Nane; former Under-Secretary-General and Chef de Cabinet Iqbal Riza; a former member of the Executive Office of the Secretary-General, Tasa Delenda; and an additional member of Kofi Annan\u2019s family to speak on behalf of his children.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>SUMMARY OF PRESIDENT\u2019S FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE STATEMENT PUBLISHED ONLINE <\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Today our office published President Laj\u010d\u00e1k\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/pga\/72\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/51\/2018\/09\/20180917-Miroslav-Lajcak-PGA72-financial-disclosure-on-completion-of-the-mandate.pdf\">second financial disclosure summary<\/a> on our web site \u2013 in the ethics and transparency section.<\/li>\n<li>According to General Assembly resolution 70\/305, Presidents are to provide financial disclosures upon assumption and completion of their duties.<\/li>\n<li>This year, although not required to do so, Mr. Laj\u010d\u00e1k\u00a0became the first ever President of the General Assembly to volunteer to make his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/pga\/72\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/51\/2017\/08\/Financial-Disclosure-Summary.pdf\">initial financial disclosure summary<\/a> And now he has made the second one public as well.<\/li>\n<li>He has done this in the interest of <a href=\"\/pga\/72?page_id=106993\">transparency and accountability<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=&#8221;1_3&#8243;][et_pb_code _builder_version=&#8221;3.12.2&#8243;]\n<!-- iframe plugin v.6.0 wordpress.org\/plugins\/iframe\/ -->\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"100%\" height=\"180\" src=\"\/\/www.un.org\/webcast\/1362235914001\/B1J3DDQJf_default\/index.html?videoId=5835930158001\" scrolling=\"yes\" class=\"iframe-class\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe>\n&lt;!&#8211;
