Andr\u00e9s Fiallo<\/p><\/div>\n

Senior Political Adviser\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Andr\u00e9s Fiallo is the Senior Political Adviser to the President of the United Nations General Assembly. He advises the President and her cabinet on sensitive issues in the work of the General Assembly and its Main Committees, as well as on the relationship with the other principal organs of the organization. He assists the President with the preparation and review of substantive inputs.<\/p>\n

From 2009 to 2015, Andr\u00e9s\u00a0 served at the Permanent Mission of Ecuador to the United Nations. He first served as delegate to the Fifth Committee and election officer in 2009, before becoming a delegate to the Third Committee (human rights, world drug problem, crime prevention and criminal justice, Indigenous Peoples, gender equality) from 2010 to 2015. During the Ecuadorian Presidency of the Latin American and Caribbean Community (CELAC) in 2015, he led CELAC on human rights and social issues. Prior to this, he coordinated the Group of 77 and China on Social Development, in support to the Bolivian presidency (2014).<\/p>\n

Before joining the Office of the President, Andr\u00e9s worked in the Cabinet of the Minister of Foreign Affairs; he was responsible for clearing the substantive inputs for the Minister. While on secondment to the Ministry of National Defense, Andr\u00e9s was Director for International Relations (2016-2017). Prior, he served as Chief of Cabinet of the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs (2015-2016).<\/p>\n

Andr\u00e9s has been an Ecuadorian diplomat since 2006. He holds a Masters degree in Diplomacy and International Relations from\u00a0Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU), New York, United States, and a Bachelors in Law and Political Science with a focus on International law, from the University of Montpellier in France. He attended The Hague Academy of International Law and the Ecuadorian Diplomatic Academy.<\/p>\n

He speaks Spanish, French, English and reads Italian and Portuguese.<\/p>\n

Political Adviser and Special Assistant to the President<\/span><\/h3>

Andr\u00e9s Fiallo is the Political Adviser and Special Assistant to the President of the United Nations General Assembly.
