Ms. Maria Fernanda Espinosa Garces, met today with H.E. Mr. Miguel Octavio Vargas Maldonado, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Dominican Republic and President of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Security Council for the month of January 2019. The President of the General Assembly congratulated the Dominican Republic on the assumption the presidency of the Security Council. She welcomed the Dominican Republic\u2019 initiative to hold an open debate to highlight the nexus of climate-related disasters on the international peace and security.
