PRESIDENT ESPINOSA CONDEMNS ATTACK IN NAIROBI<\/strong><\/p>\n
This morning, the President of the General Assembly, Mar\u00eda Fernanda Espinosa, strongly condemned an attack in Nairobi, Kenya. She expressed her solidarity with the victims and their families and with the Government and the people of Kenya. The PGA says that \u201cthere is no justification for using terror and violence against innocent people.\u201d She is closely following media reports on the attack.<\/p>\n
PGA WILL TRAVEL TO OMAN FROM 22-25 JANUARY<\/strong><\/p>\n
The President of the General Assembly will leave Pakistan for Oman on 22 January. Ms. Espinosa will stay in Oman until 25 January at the invitation of the Omani Government. The PGA will visit the National Defence College of Oman, in the capital Muscat, and deliver a lecture on the “importance of multilateralism and the role of the General Assembly in the maintenance on international peace and security”. The President will also hold several bilateral meetings on multilateralism, the priorities of the current session of the GA including women and youth empowerment, as well as as cooperation between Oman and the United Nations. The PGA will visit the Omani Women Association, and meet Oman’s Foreign Minister, H.E. Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah. The PGA’s delegation includes her Chef de Cabinet, a senior adviser, a media adviser and her personal assistant. Ms. Espinosa will return to New York on 26 January. Travel costs are being covered by Oman.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em>PGA WILL BRIEF MEMBER STATES ON 2019 PRIORITIES<\/strong><\/p>\n
The President of the General Assembly, Ms. Mar\u00eda Fernanda Espinosa, will brief Member States this afternoon on her priorities for this year of 2019. The meeting will take place at the Trusteeship Council at 3 p.m. Ms. Espinosa will open the floor for a conversation with Member States and to listen to their contributions.<\/p>\n
PGA\u2019S AGENDA AND OTHER ISSUES<\/strong><\/p>\n
This morning, Ms. Espinosa attended the handover ceremony of G-77 plus China. After the meeting, she will attend a luncheon with the G-77 + China representatives and at 3 p.m., Ms. Espinosa will brief Member States, as previously announced, on the priorities of her Presidency.<\/p>\n
PRESIDENT ESPINOSA WILL TALK TO JOURNALISTS TOMORROW<\/strong><\/p>\n
Tomorrow, 16 January, at 1 pm. President Espinosa will have a stakeout in front of the PGA\u2019s Office. She will make some opening remarks for about five minutes and dedicate the remaining time to your questions. We would like to invite all of you for this interaction with the PGA before she leaves for Pakistan and Oman.
