Hello everyone, good afternoon! We will start with a trip announcement…<\/em><\/p>\n
PRESIDENT ESPINOSA WILL TRAVEL TO BELGIUM AND FINLAND<\/strong><\/p>\n
The President of the General Assembly will be in Belgium, on Monday, 4 March, to\u00a0address the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament, in Brussels. Ms. Mar\u00eda Fernanda Espinosa will meet leaders of the European Union as well as Belgian authorities and members of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Country Team.<\/p>\n
She will start her working day by meeting with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the Commission, Ms. Federica Mogherini.<\/p>\n
The PGA will also meet the Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Work, Economy and Foreign Trade, H.E Kris Peeters, and the President of the Board of the Foreign Ministry, H.E. Bruno van der Pluijm.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday, 5 March, Ms. Espinosa will address the Political and Security Committee at the European Union, and hold a bilateral meeting with the President of the European Commission, H.E. Jean-Claude Juncker.<\/p>\n
From Belgium, the PGA and her delegation will travel to Helsinki, Finland, where she will take part in the International Youth Summit and meet Finish authorities and youth leaders.<\/p>\n
Ms. Espinosa will grant interviews to national media outlets in both countries.<\/p>\n
The PGA\u2019s delegation includes a senior adviser, a coordination officer, a communications adviser and her personal assistant.<\/p>\n
All travel costs to Brussels are being covered by the PGA\u2019s Office Trust Fund. Finland will cover all travels costs to Helsinki.<\/p>\n

PGA\u2019S AGENDA AND OTHER ISSUES<\/strong><\/p>\n
On the PGA\u2019s Agenda today: Ms. Espinosa chaired the 69th<\/sup>\u00a0plenary meeting of the General Assembly on the role of diamonds in fueling conflict: breaking the link between the illicit transaction of rough diamonds and armed conflict as a contribution to prevention and settlement of conflicts. (Agenda Item 33), and later the GA will meet on the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (2021-2030). The President met this morning the Minister of Environment of El Salvador, Her Excellency Ms. Lina Dolores Pohl Alfaro. This afternoon, the PGA will hold a bilateral meeting with the Permanent Observer of the League of Arab States, H.E. Maged Abdelaziz.<\/p>\n
