GA CONCLUDES HIGH-LEVEL MEETING ON 100th<\/sup>\u00a0ANNIVERSARY OF THE INTERNATIONAL LABOUR ORGANIZATION<\/strong><\/p>\n
The General Assembly will conclude this afternoon the high-level meeting to commemorate the one-hundredth anniversary of the establishment of the International Labour Organization (ILO).\u00a0<\/p>\n
The event, which started on Wednesday, was followed by a High-Level Meeting of the GA on the\u00a0\u201cThe Future of Work\u201d.<\/p>\n
The PGA will deliver a statement to close the high-level meeting, which was attended by a Head of State, State Ministers, representatives of academia, the private sector, civil society and young people.<\/p>\n
Ms. Espinosa said that work is a fundamental right.\u00a0She commends\u00a0the\u00a0ILO for\u00a0being the vanguard of social justice and its contribution to promoting sustainable development.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The quest to achieve decent work for all and to ensure that effective policies are in place remains one of her seven priorities during this General Assembly session.<\/p>\n
Ms. Mar\u00eda Fernanda Espinosa believes that the commemoration of the ILO centenary is a great opportunity to mobilize leaders to fulfil Sustainable Development Goal\u00a08\u00a0on \u201cDecent Work and Economic Growth\u201d<\/p>\n
The PGA will be accompanied at the closing segment of the high-level meeting later today by the Director-General of the International Labour Organization, Mr. Guy Ryder.<\/p>\n

ANNUAL COMMEMORATION ON THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF REFLECTION ON THE 1994 GENOCIDE AGAINST THE TUTSI IN RWANDA<\/strong><\/p>\n
And tomorrow, 12 April, President Mar\u00eda Fernanda Espinosa will deliver the opening remarks in a ceremony at the GA Hall to mark the 25th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary of the genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda.<\/p>\n
Earlier this week, Ms. Espinosa issued a tweet affirming that the genocide, in 1994, is one of the darkest chapters in human history. Ms. Espinosa honoured those who were murdered and stressed the suffering of those who survived.<\/p>\n
More than 800,000 people \u2013 overwhelmingly Tutsi, but also moderate Hutu, Twa and others were systematically killed in less than three months.<\/p>\n
The Annual Commemoration on the International Day of Reflection on the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi in Rwanda is being organized by the Department of Global Communications and the Mission of Rwanda to the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ.<\/p>\n
