Nous devons continuer \u00e0 investir dans la p\u00e9rennisation de la paix et la pr\u00e9vention des conflits. \u00c9tant donn\u00e9 que l\u2019Organisation s\u2019efforce de \u00ab pr\u00e9server les g\u00e9n\u00e9rations futures du fl\u00e9au de la guerre \u00bb et que l\u2019ONU n\u2019a pas r\u00e9pondu aux attentes de ses p\u00e8res fondateurs en termes de pr\u00e9vention des conflits violents et des atrocit\u00e9s criminelles, nous devons assumer la responsabilit\u00e9 collective de faire de ce monde un monde meilleur, plus s\u00fbr et plus pacifique. La promotion des droits de l\u2019homme et l\u2019emploi des femmes et des jeunes m\u00e9ritent une attention particuli\u00e8re, et je me consacrerai \u00e0 la promotion de la parit\u00e9 des sexes dans l\u2019ensemble du syst\u00e8me des Nations Unies, \u00e0 commencer par mon propre bureau.<\/p>\n
En 2020, nous c\u00e9l\u00e9brerons le soixante-quinzi\u00e8me anniversaire de la cr\u00e9ation de l\u2019Organisation des Nations Unies. Cela constitue pour nous une occasion exceptionnelle de r\u00e9duire le d\u00e9ficit de confiance entre les nations, car nous partageons tous les m\u00eames aspirations et n\u2019avons d\u2019autre choix que de travailler ensemble. Si nous voulons r\u00e9aliser les ambitions de nos p\u00e8res fondateurs, nous devons nous assurer que l\u2019indiff\u00e9rence et l\u2019ind\u00e9cision ne s\u2019insinuent pas dans notre Organisation. L\u2019Assembl\u00e9e g\u00e9n\u00e9rale doit jouer son r\u00f4le en comblant les lacunes et en encourageant une action collective pour traiter toutes les questions internationales qui m\u00e9ritent notre attention, en \u00e9troite coordination et collaboration avec le Secr\u00e9taire g\u00e9n\u00e9ral, le Conseil de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 et le Conseil \u00e9conomique et social.<\/p>\n
Dans les semaines \u00e0 venir et sous ma pr\u00e9sidence, je compterai sur l\u2019appui et la solidarit\u00e9 de tous les \u00c9tats Membres de l\u2019ONU, ainsi que du Secr\u00e9tariat. J\u2019\u00e9tudierai le potentiel consid\u00e9rable du r\u00f4le f\u00e9d\u00e9rateur du Bureau de la pr\u00e9sidence de l\u2019Assembl\u00e9e g\u00e9n\u00e9rale et j\u2019utiliserai ses outils de plaidoyer pour promouvoir une approche multilat\u00e9rale afin de trouver des solutions viables aux probl\u00e8mes auxquels nous sommes confront\u00e9s. Je travaillerai avec les \u00c9tats Membres pour rationaliser notre travail et am\u00e9liorer la fa\u00e7on dont nous menons nos activit\u00e9s \u00e0 l\u2019ONU. \u00c9tant donn\u00e9 que la plupart d\u2019entre nous ont attir\u00e9 l\u2019attention sur le nombre croissant d\u2019\u00e9v\u00e9nements qui sont organis\u00e9s, avec les risques que cela comporte de faire perdre de sa valeur \u00e0 un dialogue authentique et de surcharger les d\u00e9l\u00e9gations, je travaillerai avec tous les membres pour trouver des solutions appropri\u00e9es, car je pense que nous devons rendre l\u2019ONU plus efficace, plus efficiente et plus responsable \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9gard de ceux que nous servons.<\/p>\n
Enfin, en tant que Pr\u00e9sident de l\u2019Assembl\u00e9e g\u00e9n\u00e9rale \u00e0 sa soixante-quatorzi\u00e8me session, je tiens \u00e0 r\u00e9affirmer que l\u2019ouverture, l\u2019inclusivit\u00e9 et la transparence guideront toutes les actions du Bureau de la pr\u00e9sidence.<\/p>\n

I am grateful to the Federal Republic of Nigeria for nominating me for this position, the Group of African States for endorsing my candidacy and all Member States for extending their invaluable support.\r\n\r\nI congratulate President Espinosa Garc\u00e9s on her tireless efforts in guiding our work throughout the current session and thank the Secretary-General for his leadership at this critical moment for the United Nations.\r\n\r\nAs I announced in my vision statement and during the interactive dialogue on 13 May, the implementation of the existing mandates for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, with a particular focus on peace and security, poverty eradication, zero hunger, quality education, climate action and inclusion, will constitute the major priorities of my presidency. Accordingly, the high-level political forum to be convened during the Assembly\u2019s seventy-fourth session, the Secretary-General\u2019s climate summit in September, the high-level events on universal health coverage, financing for development and the Small Island Developing States (SAMOA) Accelerated Modalities of Action Pathway, the second United Nations Conference to Support the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development, to be held in Lisbon, the commemoration of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and all the other important meetings during the seventy-fourth session will provide major opportunities to promote the implementation of our goals and targets. We must seize all of those opportunities to galvanize political momentum and action at the highest level. I am committed to promoting the necessary partnerships with all stakeholders to achieve our objectives and, ultimately, doing our best to ensure peace and prosperity, particularly for the most vulnerable.\r\n\r\nWe must continue to invest in sustaining peace and conflict prevention. Given that our Organization strives to \u201csave succeeding generations from the scourge of war\u201d, and that the United Nations has not met the expectations of its founding fathers in terms of preventing many violent conflicts and mass atrocities, we must take on the collective responsibility for making the world a better, safer and more peaceful place. The promotion of human rights and the employment of women and young people deserve special attention, and I will devote myself to the promotion of gender parity throughout the United Nations system, starting with my own Office.\r\n\r\nWe will commemorate the seventy-fifth anniversary of the creation of the United Nations next year. That presents us with a unique opportunity to reduce the trust deficit among nations, as we all share the same aspirations and have no choice but to work together. If we are to achieve the visions of our founding fathers, we must ensure that indifference and indecision do not creep into our Organization. The General Assembly must play its role in bridging the gaps and promoting collective action to address all international issues that deserve attention, in close coordination and collaboration with the Secretary-General, the Security Council and the Economic and Social Council.\r\n\r\nIn the coming weeks and during my presidency, I will count on the support and solidarity of all States Members of the United Nations, as well as the Secretariat. I will explore the robust potential of the convening platform of the Office of the President of the General Assembly and use its advocacy tools to promote a multilateral approach to finding workable solutions to the issues confronting us. I will work with Member States to streamline our work and improve the way we do business at the United Nations.\r\n\r\nAs most of us have drawn attention to the growing number of events, with the attendant risks of undermining genuine dialogue and overstretching delegations, I will work with all members on appropriate solutions, because I believe that we must make the United Nations more efficient and effective and more accountable to the people we serve.\r\n\r\nFinally, as President of the General Assembly at its seventy-fourth session, I want to reiterate that openness, inclusivity and transparency will guide all the actions of the Office of the President.\r\n\r\nSource<\/a>","_et_gb_content_width":"","footnotes":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"class_list":["post-165794","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"yoast_head":"\n
