Michael Okwudili serves as a Senior Adviser in the Office of the President of the 74th<\/sup> Session of the General Assembly. Michael is a member of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Reforms, Budget and Legal Affairs Team, handling issues pertaining to Revitalisation, General Assembly Plenary and the General Committee.<\/p>\n

Michael served as a delegate in the Permanent Mission of Nigeria to the United Nations and was on the 4th<\/sup> committee from the 70th<\/sup> until the 72nd<\/sup> session. He was a member of the NAM negotiating team on peacekeeping matters for the 71st<\/sup> and 72nd<\/sup> sessions and provided support to Nigeria\u2019s Security Council team when Nigeria served as a Non-permanent member of the Security Council. He participated in several meetings that considered the report of the High-Level Independent Panel on Peace Operations that reviewed United Nations peacekeeping operations with the goal of making them fit for purpose.<\/p>\n

Michael started his diplomatic career in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria in 2000, and has worked as an expert on political issues, African Affairs, and Consular matters. He had earlier served at Nigeria\u2019s Embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from 2007 to 2010, where he covered the proceedings at the African Union Peace and Security Council (AUPSC).<\/p>\n

He speaks English (fluent), Igbo (Native) and French (intermediate).<\/p>\n
