United Nations, New York, 27 November 2019 <\/strong>\u2013The President of the General Assembly, H.E.\u00a0Tijjani\u00a0Muhammad-Bande\u202fwill travel to Dublin, Ireland on\u00a0Wednesday\u00a027 November 2019, to participate in the\u00a0Peacekeeping Perspectives\u00a0and\u00a0Peacebuilding Progress and Prospects\u00a0conferences as part of his priority of peace and security.\u00a0This is his first official visit to Ireland as President of the seventy-fourth session of the General Assembly.\u00a0<\/p>\nDuring the visit, the President is expected to highlight\u202fhis priorities for the 74th\u202fSession, mobilize support for multilateralism and rule based systems as the most potent avenues for fostering dialogue and proffering solution to global problems,\u202fgalvanize momentum for the \u202fcommemoration of the 75TH\u202fAnniversary of the United Nations in 2020,\u00a0necessity of international cooperation to advance peacekeeping and peacebuilding.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
The President will also interact with youth at the University of Maynooth, and the National Youth Council of Ireland; and participate in a visit to a farm and food-producing facility.\u00a0<\/p>\n
During his visit, H.E.\u00a0Tijjani\u00a0Muhammad-Bande\u202fwill\u202fmeet with H.E. Michael D.\u00a0Higgins, \u202fPresident\u00a0of Ireland, H.E. Simon Coveney T.D., T\u00e1naiste (Deputy Prime Minister) and Minister of Foreign Affairs), and H.E. Mary Robinson, Chair of the Elders.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
H.E.\u00a0Tijjani\u00a0Muhammad-Bande\u00a0will depart Ireland on Saturday 30 November 2019. The President will be accompanied by\u00a0Senior Adviser on Peace and Security, Mr. Eugenio Vargas Garcia,\u00a0the Special Assistant to\u00a0the Chef de Cabinet, Mr. Faisal M. Ibrahim,\u00a0and Speechwriter Orla Murphy.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Travel costs will be covered by\u00a0the Government of Ireland.\u00a0<\/p>\n
