United Nations, New York, 28 May 2020 <\/strong>\u2013Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ General Assembly adopted today resolution 74\/275 entitled \u201cInternational Day to Protect Education from Attack\u201d.<\/p>\n

The resolution proclaims 9th<\/sup> of \u00a0<\/sup>September as the International Day to Protect Education from Attack. It reaffirms the right to education for all and the importance of ensuring safe and enabling learning environments in humanitarian emergencies.<\/p>\n

The resolution was adopted in accordance with General Assembly decision 74\/544 entitled \u201cProcedure for taking decisions of the General Assembly during the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic\u201d.<\/p>\n

The President of the General Assembly introduced decision 74\/544 in March to ensure that the Assembly is able to take decisions during the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

Currently, there are two draft resolutions under silence procedure, viz:<\/p>\n

Procedure for Holding Elections by Secret Ballot Without a Plenary Meeting During the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Election of the President of the General Assembly at its Seventy-fifth Session<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Special Session of the General Assembly Against Corruption<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n
