REVITALIZATION WITH U.N. AMBASSADORS<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This morning the President held his fourth Morning Dialogue with Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Permanent Representatives.<\/li>\n<li>The theme was \u201cBuilding back better: Reform and revitalization\u201d. Discussions focused on adapting the General Assembly\u2019s working methods to the current COVID-19 context.<\/li>\n<li>Nine Permanent Representatives participated.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>ASSEMBLY DEBATE AN OPPORTÄ¢¹½ÊÓƵITY TO REINFORCE COMMITMENT TO HUMANITARIAN ACTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The General Assembly plenary is holding a debate all day today on the agenda item: \u201cStrengthening of the coordination of humanitarian and disaster relief assistance of the United Nations, including special economic assistance\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>There are currently 26 delegations inscribed to speak. And action is expected on four draft resolutions this afternoon.<\/li>\n<li>The titles of those drafts are: \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.undocs.org\/en\/A\/75\/L.11\">International cooperation on humanitarian assistance in the field of natural disasters, from relief to development<\/a>\u201d; \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.undocs.org\/en\/A\/75\/L.42\">Safety and security of humanitarian personnel and protection of United Nations personnel<\/a>\u201d; \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.undocs.org\/en\/A\/75\/L.43\">Assistance to the Palestinian people<\/a>\u201d; and \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.undocs.org\/en\/A\/75\/L.44\">Strengthening of the coordination of emergency humanitarian assistance of the United Nations<\/a>\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/pga\/75\/2020\/12\/11\/42nd-plenary-meeting-strengthening-of-the-coordination-of-humanitarian-and-disaster-relief-assistance-of-the-united-nations-including-special-economic-assistance\/\">opening remarks<\/a> this morning, the President said today\u2019s debate was a critical opportunity to stand in solidarity with the millions of people caught in the direst of circumstances, and to reinforce our collective commitment to support humanitarian action, which is especially important in light of COVID-19.<\/li>\n<li>He also shared two recommendations with the Assembly.<\/li>\n<li>First, on the multiple promising COVID-19 vaccines, he said approval and accessibility are two very different things. And there is a clear rationale for ensuring quick vaccination programmes for those in greatest need.<\/li>\n<li>Second, we must not forget that humanitarian crises were here well before COVID-19.
