They reaffirmed that sustaining peace was a shared responsibility of the whole Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ system. This joint action strengthened the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ\u2019s focus on conflict prevention.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>In\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/pga\/75\/2020\/12\/21\/47th-plenary-meeting-of-the-general-assembly-peacebuilding-and-sustaining-peace\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\">remarks today<\/a>, the President said that achieving peace is difficult. Sustaining peace is harder \u2013 because it requires a focus on all phases of conflict: before, during and after. But this sort of integrated approach is required to maintain long-term peace.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>He added that COVID-19 has further reinforced the need to enhance our peacebuilding efforts \u2013 as it is reversing hard-won peace and development gains, aggravating conflicts and undermining efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>He said that peacebuilding and sustaining peace must be at the heart of our efforts to achieve peace and security.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"center\"><b>PLENARY TO CONSIDER REPORTS BY ECONOMIC &amp; FINANCIAL COMMITTEE<\/b><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This afternoon, the General Assembly plenary will consider the reports of the Second Committee, which focuses on economic and financial matters.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The President is expected to note that the Second Committee\u2019s work goes to the heart of the 2030 Agenda and is directly linked to efforts to drive global sustainable development. This is especially important as we aim to regain progress during the Decade of Action.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>He will also welcome the Second Committee\u2019s deliberations on key resolutions related to the New Urban Agenda, water and climate change, which recognize the relationship between the environment, human health and prosperity.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"center\"><b>HUMAN SOLIDARITY NEEDED MORE THAN EVER, PRESIDENT SAYS<\/b><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Yesterday was International Human Solidarity Day. In a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/webtv.un.org\/watch\/volkan-bozkir-president-of-the-75th-session-of-the-general-assembly-sends-a-message-on-international-human-solidarity-day\/6217159104001\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\">video message<\/a>, the President noted that, this year, in the face of COVID-19, residents of different cities stood on their balconies and cheered for the essential workers who were putting themselves on the line for the benefit of others.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Scenes such as these showed how people came together to a degree that they never had before. A sense of shared grief, desperation, anxiety and hope, spread from country to country, and created a sense of solidarity against a common challenge.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The President said that, as we have not yet conquered COVID-19, we need that sense of human solidarity now, as much as we ever did.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>He said, \u201cLet us continue to lean into this sense of one global community, one humanity,
