The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with H.E. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Foreign Minister Al-Zayani pledged the full support of Bahrain to the Office of the President of the General Assembly, including for specific priorities identified by President Shahid for the 76th session such as collective efforts to address the challenges of COVID-19.
The PGA underlined the necessity of achieving vaccine equity by the end of 2022, as the first step to build back better from the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, the significance of youth empowerment and the need to promote gender balance. Both sides also discussed other relevant topics, such as food security, sustainable development, and climate change.
The meeting took place in the President’s Office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
