The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with H.E. Mr. Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed support to the priorities of the President of the General Assembly for the session, provided overview of his country’s initiatives for the 76th?session and informed about the Inaugural Summit of the Crimea Platform and its declaration. He focused as well on the situation of human rights in Crimea and eastern Ukraine.?
President Shahid congratulated Ukraine on the 30th?anniversary of restoration of its independence and thanked Ukraine for the firm commitment to multilateralism. He reassured that this session the General Assembly will consider the situation in Ukraine following its inclusion on its agenda. He underscored that his vision of hope is people centric and respecting human rights of all, will be one of the priorities throughout the session.
The meeting took place in the President’s office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
