The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with H.E. Ms Winnie Byanyima, Executive Director of Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵAIDS.?
Executive Director?Byanyima?pledged support to the President of the General Assembly,?his vision of hope?and the?specific priorities identified for the 76th?session,?closely linked and interrelated ?with the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵAIDS mandate.?
They also??discussed the importance to ensure COVID-19 vaccines for all and leave no one behind, as well as?other relevant topics, such?challenges posed by COVID-19?in achieving SDGs,?the fight against HIV/SIDA?and?the cooperation?between the General Assembly and Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵAIDS.?
PGA briefed the Executive Director of the high-level event on COVID-19 that he is planning to host early next year. Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵAIDS expressed an interest in participating in the event.
The meeting took place in the President¡¯s office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.?
