The President of the General Assembly delivered remarks at the high level event ¡®Transformative Action for Nature and People¡¯.?In his message, the PGA stressed the importance of following up commitments made during the first ¡®Action for Nature¡¯ event and the Leaders¡¯ Pledge for Nature, adopted by 88 Heads of State and government and the EU. The PGA also informed that he intended to convene a high-level General Assembly event on Climate Change next month to raise political commitment to the 1.5 degree target, climate action address capacity and funding gaps, and raise ambition and momentum ahead of COP26. He also informed about his intention to convene a ¡®moment for nature¡¯ event, next year, addressing the interconnected issues around the environment. This includes the ocean, climate, biodiversity loss, and desertification, amongst others.
The side event was organised to showcase action to protect, conserve, sustainably use and restore nature and close the finance gap.
