The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with H.E. Mr. ?Faisal Mekdad Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Syrian Arab Republic.
Minister Mekdad congratulated the President and reaffirmed Syria’s full support to the Presidency of Hope. He highlighted the need for the respect for International law as the only way to revitalize the work of the General Assembly.?He also briefed PGA on the current political and humanitarian situation in Syria.?
The President welcomed the Minister and presented his priorities for the 76th session.?Both sides also discussed other relevant topics, such as recovery from COVID-19, unilateral sanctions, multilateralism, terrorism, and climate change.
The meeting took place in the President’s office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.?
