Today, President of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid met with H.E. Judge Joan E. Donoghue, President of the International Court of Justice.
President Shahid thanked President Donoghue for the presentation of the annual report of the Court to the Assembly and underlined the important role of the International Court of Justice, as ?the principal judicial organ under the United Nations System to contribute to the rule of law and help advance the international peace and security.
The Parties also discussed the prospects for cooperation during the Presidency of Hope and reaffirmed support to each other’s mandates.
The meeting took place in the President’s office at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.?
