The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly (PGA), H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with the Permanent Representative of Eritrea (PR), H.E. Sophia Tesfamariam.
The PR of Eritrea briefed the PGA on Eritrea’s first Voluntary National Review (VNR) which will be presented at the High Level Political Forum (HLPF) in July 2022.
Ambassador Testfamarina also briefed the President Shahid on the situation in the region and highlighted the need for a peaceful Horn of Africa which could only be brokered through an inclusive dialogue.
Both sides also discussed other relevant topics such as the SG’s Our Common Agenda Report, need for more Africa-focused events and the ongoing negotiations in COP26.
The meeting took place in the President’s office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
