The President of the 76th Session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today?with H.E. Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr., Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines.

The Secretary congratulated the President on his election and?commended him for his leadership?in guiding?the membership to address?the?plethora of?global challenges plaguing the world?today, including vaccine inequality and climate change. Mr.?Locsin?also?shared with the?President?his views and perspectives on?the developments related to?Our Common Agenda.

The President thanked the Philippines for its continued support to the Presidency of Hope and the Office of PGA. He?underlined the necessity of?an effective multilateralism?through?working together?to fight COVID-19?and?climate change.?The President invited the Philippines to participate at?the?High-level Meeting on the theme?of?¡°Galvanizing Momentum for Universal Vaccination¡±?to be held on?13 January 2022.?

Both sides also discussed other relevant topics?such as?sustainable development,?peacekeeping?and the Review Conference of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

The meeting took place in the President¡¯s office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.?
