The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met with H.E. Ambassador Gabriel Ferrero, the Chairperson of Committee on World Food Security earlier today.?

Ambassador Ferrero stressed the importance of ensuring right to food and?nutrition?for everyone and pledged his continued and firm support to President Shahid’s Presidency of Hope. The Chairperson also highlighted the focus of the Committee on accelerating global actions on achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2 – Zero Hunger.

The President commended the work of the Committee and mentioned that food security is linked to the achievement of many SDGs. He also discussed the importance of giving special attention to food security in countries in special situations – LDCs, LLDCs and SIDS, as well as the gender gap in food security.?
