The President of the 76th Session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with the Assistant Secretary-General for Human Rights and Head of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in New York, Ms. Ilze Brands Kehris.
The Assistant Secretary General pledged her full support to the priorities of the Presidency of Hope, including on gender equality and youth participation, and expressed her appreciation for being invited to serve as member of the President¡¯s Advisory Board on Gender Equality.
President Shahid reiterated his commitment to promote and advance the respect of human rights, which is part of the fourth Ray of Hope of his Presidency.
They also discussed issues related to the importance of civil society¡¯s participation in the work of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ, including in the field of human rights, PGA¡¯s Youth Fellowship Programme and the High-level meeting on ¡°Galvanizing Momentum for Universal Vaccination¡± scheduled on 13 January 2022.
The meeting took place in the President¡¯s office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
