This morning, you would have seen a statement attributable to the President of the General Assembly, Abdulla Shahid, on the situation in Ukraine.
It reads: ¡°Ahead of the General Assembly meeting on Wednesday, I call on the parties to intensify negotiations and deescalate the current trajectory through dialogue.
Full commitment to the United Nations Charter, its purposes and its principles is the only path to ensure lasting peace.¡±

President Abdulla Shahid this morning held an interactive dialogue with women and girl scientists around the world, who have contributed in the fight against climate change.
The event, entitled ¡°The Future of Climate Science is Female: Empowering women and girls in science¡± was organized with Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵESCO.
The President said that he would bring the key ideas from today¡¯s discussion with him to the Commission on the Status of Women.
In his opening comments, the President noted that many of the greatest minds are untapped. ¡°Let us not squander their potential,¡± he said. ¡°Let us empower and elevate.¡±

OUR COMMON AGENDA
?The third consultation of Our Common Agenda is now underway in the Trusteeship. The theme is ¡°frameworks for a peaceful world ¨C promoting peace, international law and digital cooperation.¡±
As with previous consultations, the second day is devoted to Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ entities and other partners.
Volker T¨¹rk, Under-Secretary-General for Policy, delivered opening remarks.
Melissa Fleming, the Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications, then moderated a fireside chat with senior officials from the United Nations system.
The panelists were:
- Rosemary DiCarlo, the Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs;
- High Representative for Disarmament Izumi Nakamitsu;
- High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet,
- Miguel de Serpa Soares, Under-Secretary-General for Legal Affairs and Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Legal Counsel;
- Maria-Francesca Spatolisano, Assistant Secretary-General and Acting Secretary General¡¯s Envoy on Technology;
- Deputy Director of the Office of Counter-Terrorism, Raffi Gregorian;
- Alexander Zouev, Assistant Secretary-General for Rule of Law and Security Institutions from the Department of Peace Operations;
The afternoon session will consist of a fireside chat with relevant partners. It will be moderated by Adam Lupel, Vice President of the International Peace Institute.

DIGITAL COOPERATION ORGANIZATION
The President met today with Deemah AlYahya, the Secretary-General of the Digital Cooperation Organization.
The Digital Cooperation Organization is an international initiative that aims to promote growth in the digital economy among its members¡ which include eight member states:?Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Rwanda and Saudi Arabia.
The meeting is an opportunity to discuss the digital divide and the advancements needed to support today¡¯s tech-savvy youth.
BILATERALS
President Shahid is now meeting with ECOSOC President Collen Vixen Kelapile. This is their regular monthly meeting to discuss issues of cooperation between the two offices.
This afternoon, the President will meet with Ms. Mari Pangestu, Managing Director of Development Policy and Partnerships at the World Bank.
That will be followed by a meeting with Ms. Sima Sami Bahous, Executive Director of Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ-Women.
QUESTIONS
The Spokesperson was asked for details about Wednesday¡¯s GA meeting on Ukraine. She said that the plenary would start at 10AM ET, and resume in the 3PM session given the high number of inscribed speakers. President Abdulla Shahid will preside over the meeting. The Foreign Minister of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba is expected to speak first. Lord Tariq Ahmad of Wimbledon, the Minister of State for South and Central Asia, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ and the Commonwealth, will speak later in the morning. There is no resolution expected.
