The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with H.E. Mr. Guillermo Fernandez De Soto, Permanent Representative of Colombia to the United Nations in his capacity as the Chair of the Like-Minded Group in support of Middle-Income Countries (MICs).

The Permanent Representative?expressed the expectations of the Group on the Our Common Agenda process, and specifically on the proposals of the Secretary General regarding measures of progress that go beyond GDP,?the?facilitation of the President to the mapping exercise regarding the available resources to support?the MICS?and?the?development of the?Multidimensional Vulnerability Index.?He also?underscored the support of the Group to?high-level meetings hosted by the PGA?including events on vaccination,?and?sustainable tourism.

The President?commended the important role that the Like-Minded Group?plays.?He also?pledged to extend his full cooperation to the priorities of MICS?in carrying out the mandates of the General Assembly and through his events.

The meeting took place in the President��s office at?the?United Nations Headquarters in New York.
