The President of the 76th?session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with Ms. Ghada Waly, Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna.
Ms. Ghada Waly thanked PGA for the successful organization of the high-level debate on the theme ¡°Enhancing youth mainstreaming in crime prevention policies¡± and congratulated PGA on the leadership on ¡°Our Common Agenda¡± follow-up process.
The Executive Director highlighted the pressing need to protect cyberspace and briefed PGA on the significant progress made by the Ad Hoc Committee in charge of the elaboration of an international Convention on Cybercrime under the chairmanship of Ambassador Faouzia Mebarki of Algeria.
The President of the General Assembly thanked Ms. Waly for her in-person participation in the High-level debate and briefed her on the follow-up on the implementation of ¡°Our Common Agenda¡± report.
Both sides discussed also other relevant topics such as the cooperation between OPGA and Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵODC and the participation of youth on Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ processes.
The meeting took place in the President¡¯s office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
