The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with Ms. Jagjit Pavadia, the President of the Board of the International Narcotics Control Board.

The President of the General Assembly commended Ms. Pavadia on her leadership of the INCB over the past years and the interest on strengthening the relation with the General Assembly. Ms. Pavadia outlined the priorities of the INCB, including its efforts towards meeting the Sustainable Development Goals related to just and inclusive societies.

They both discussed the importance of multilateral cooperation in addressing the global challenges related to narcotics, including the Opioid crisis.

The meeting took place in the President’s office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
