The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with Ms. Kate Jenkins, Sex Discrimination Commissioner of Australia.
The President of the General Assembly briefed Ms. Jenkins on his Presidency of Hope and his?priorities, the?Five Rays of Hope,?which are?implemented?through a gender lens.
Ms. Jenkins commended the President of the General Assembly on his staunch commitment to gender equality and his tireless efforts in advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment throughout the work of the 76th?session of the General Assembly.
Both sides also discussed other topics such as challenges faced by women, women empowerment and combatting violence against women as well as the inauguration of lactation rooms at the United Nations Headquarters.
The meeting took place in the President’s office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
