The President of the 76^th?session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, called on H.E. Mr. Luis Abinader Corona, President of the Dominican Republic earlier today.

President Shahid underlined his priorities during the 76^thsession?and highlighted the role of SIDS at the United Nations, in particular when it comes to recovery from COVID-19 and sustainable development.

President Abinader reiterated the support of the Dominican Republic to the Office of the President of the General Assembly, including for specific priorities for the 76^thsession.

Both sides also discussed issues of common interest, including climate change, sustainability, particularly sustainable tourism, and the situation of SIDS countries during the pandemic.

The meeting took place in the Office of President Abinader in the National Palace.
