On 25 July 2022, the President of the General Assembly during the seventy-sixth session, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid met with Georgia’s Prime Minister, H.E. Mr. Irakli Garibashvili.
Reflecting on the two-days successful visit to Georgia, President Shahid thanked the Prime Minister for the warm hospitality and cooperation.
The leaders discussed peace and security issues in the region,?as well as?Georgia’s efforts to strengthen peace and continued progress in sustainable development.
President Shahid commended Georgia for its active role at the United Nations throughout its 30-years of membership and its contributions to strengthening multilateralism.
President?Shahid?reaffirmed that the United Nations General Assembly remains seized on the status of internally displaced persons?in?Georgia?by adopting annual resolutions.
President Shahid?also reflected on his field visit to the Administrative Boundary Line (ABL), where he was briefed by the EU Monitoring Mission?(EUMM)?on the security and humanitarian developments on the ground and challenges faced by conflict-affected communities along the ABL.
The meeting took place in Tbilisi, Georgia.
