horizontal_offset_tablet=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p>The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with H.E. Mr. Ismail Cheikh Ahmed, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad of the Islamic Republic\u00a0 of Mauritania.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en\">Foreign Minister Cheikh Ahmed extended Mauritania\u2019s support\u00a0<\/span>to President Shahid\u2019s priorities, particularly in addressing the issues of vaccine distribution, climate change and debt relief for LDCs. In addition, Foreign Minister Cheikh Ahmed drew attention to the challanges facing the Sahel region, especially the threat of terrorism, political instability and youth suffering, and expressed the need for international commitment towards the entire Sahel region. Mr Cheikh Ahmed reiterated the G5 Sahel\u2019s commitment to ensuring the security and development for the people of the region.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span lang=\"en\">PGA underlined his five rays of hope for the 76<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0session and stressed the need to achieve vaccine equity by end 2022 as the first step to build back better from the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The meeting took place in the President\u2019s office at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>22 September
