The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with H.E. Mr. Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0The President briefed Minister Rodriguez on his priorities, including achieving universal vaccination by the end of 2022 and the need for rebuilding sustainably in the post-pandemic world. The President further highlighted that gender and youth will both be key issues throughout his mandate.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Minister Rodriguez welcomed President Shahid\u2019s ambitious agenda and called for the strengthening of multilateralism, in particular as the international community prepares for COP26 in Glasgow. The Minister emphasized his country\u2019s efforts in overcoming the pandemic and ensuring economic recovery. He also discussed the annual Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵGA resolution on the Cuban embargo.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0The meeting took place in the President\u2019s office at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.\u00a0<\/p>\n
