PGA highlights preparation and resilience in message on International Day\u00a0 <\/strong>for Disaster Risk Reduction<\/strong><\/p>\n

Earlier today, Mr. Abdulla Shahid released a video message to mark the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction.<\/p>\n

The PGA said that while we cannot stop geological or meteorological events of such incredible magnitude, we can build our resilience; we can better predict and prepare for them.<\/p>\n

He highlights that this International Day is dedicated to build disaster resilience and to decrease the impact of disasters on vulnerable communities.<\/p>\n

Mr. Shahid believes that humanity can do everything in its power not to exacerbate these natural processes, to avoid fueling droughts or floods with rampant climate change.<\/p>\n

For the PGA, \u201conly together will we stay ahead of the threats and only together will we learn to live in harmony with our environment.\u201d<\/p>\n

PGA\u2019s Agenda<\/strong><\/p>\n

This afternoon, Mr. Abulla Shahid and the Secretary-General will hold their\u00a0 monthly coordination meeting.<\/p>\n

At 3 pm., the PGA will deliver remarks, this afternoon at the First Committee meeting in the GA Hall. He will later receive in his office for a bilateral meeting, the Permanent Representative of Cyprus to the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ, H.E Mr. Andreas Hadjichrysanthou<\/p>\n

Tomorrow, the PGA will preside over the election for the Human Rights Council at 10 am. also at the GA Hall.<\/p>\n

On Friday, Mr. Shahid will resume the informal discussions, the \u201cHolhuashi Dialogues\u201d, with Permanent Representatives to the United Nations.<\/p>\n

This first meeting will be on Climate Change and Humanitarian Situations.<\/p>\n
