The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with H.E. Mr. Amrit Bahadur Rai, Permanent Representative of Nepal.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, the Permanent Representative of Nepal pledged the continued support of Nepal to the Office of the President of the General Assembly, and to the vision and priorities identified by President Shahid for the 76th session.<\/p>\n
The Permanent Representative shared his views on the challenges in the LDC graduation process and the need for partners to work closely with countries in special situations. In this regard, he welcomed the reconstruction of the Board of Advisors for LDCs, LLDCs and SIDS, as well as the Advisory Board on Gender. The President shared the experience of Maldives in graduating from LDC category.<\/p>\n
Both sides also shared their views on other relevant topics, such as sustainable development, gender, Multidimensional Vulnerability Index and the preparations for the LDC 5 conference.<\/p>\n
The President met the Permanent Representative in his office at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.<\/p>\n
